Why this guide exists
Tourist offices do their job: promote everyone, equally. Sites that live on advertising rank whoever pays first. We make choices — and we own them. If a room is lovely but has no air conditioning, we say so. If a village takes twenty minutes to see, we won't promise you a full day. The choosing is the whole point.
How we work
- We start from official sources: press dossiers, town halls, tourist offices, the websites of estates and hosts.
- We cross-check every practical detail (hours, prices, access) before publishing, and we date what we verify.
- We contact places when a detail really matters.
- We always distinguish what we checked ourselves from what we gathered from a source.
- Every page carries an update date. When information ages, we correct it.
At a distance, and on purpose
Let's be clear: our editorial team doesn't live in Gaillac. We keep that distance on purpose. We don't dine with the winemakers we review, we owe no one on the ground — and that is precisely what lets us write freely. What we know of the Gaillac country comes from research, from the local sources we cite, and from the region's photographers, whom we credit. When we haven't checked something ourselves, we tell you.
How we make a living
The guide is free. When you book accommodation or an activity through one of our links, we earn a small commission — at no extra cost to you. That pays for the work and keeps the guide independent. The rule, without exception: we choose what we recommend first, the affiliation comes after. If there's no honest partner for a place, there's no link — but the place stays in the guide.
What we are not
