Why go

Lisle-sur-Tarn is a bastide that has kept its geometry intact. Founded in 1229, the town is organised around an oversized covered square — the largest in the South-West — where the Sunday market has carried on eight centuries of trade.

The village can be walked in an hour. You pass under the brick arcades, stroll past the half-timbered houses on Rue Porta, and descend towards the Tarn through sloping lanes. In summer, the riverbanks become the heart of the village — people picnic, swim, and watch the canoes drift down towards Gaillac.
