Sur mon chemin
Karine and Wenceslas's guest house in the vineyards of Cahuzac-sur-Vère. Zen rooms, vegetarian table d'hôtes, pool, yoga — a place to recharge, ten minutes from Gaillac.
Sur mon chemin is a stone-and-brick house with purple shutters and wisteria on the façade, set on a hillside in Cahuzac-sur-Vère between the vines and the oaks. Karine and Wenceslas designed it as a place to recharge — the word is on the website, and for once, it rings true. Three rooms, no children, no blaring television at breakfast — just the stillness of the morning and the sound of the birds.
The rooms are decorated with a gentle coherence: white or powder-pink walls, pale wooden floors, wood-framed lights, a Buddha on the mantelpiece in one of them. The bathrooms have raw-stone basins set on driftwood furniture — a detail that says a great deal about the care given to every room.
In the evening, Karine offers a vegetarian table d’hôtes — a rarity in the Tarn — made from garden and market produce. The reviews are unanimous: even the meat-eaters ask for seconds. Breakfast is served under the trees when the weather allows, and it is “worthy of a five-star” according to a guest who does not look like the type to exaggerate. The pool, in the garden, does the rest.
What we love.
