This is the shortest and easiest of our loops: under six kilometres, almost flat, doable with children or at the end of the day. It circles the Broze vineyards, a quiet hamlet between Gaillac and Castelnau-de-Montmiral, where the slopes roll gently down towards the Vère.
You walk among the vines the whole way, as close as it gets to the growers’ work: the rows of Braucol and Duras, the rose bushes at the end of each plot, the wine-estate châteaux that give the place its name. Several local estates open their doors — a chance to turn the walk into a visit and leave with a few bottles, as long as you check the vineyard estates before setting out.
At the high point, the view opens over the valley and, on clear days, the Pyrenees closing the horizon to the south. Nothing demanding here: good trainers are enough, and both spring and autumn cast the finest light over the vines.
