Château de Tauziès
Fifteen suites in a wine château on the road to Cordes, five minutes from Gaillac. Pool overlooking the vines, breakfast delivered to your door, and a tasting cellar for guests.
Château de Tauziès is a wine estate converted in 2019, set on the hillsides between Gaillac and Cordes-sur-Ciel. The building dates from the 19th century; the vines were there long before. The owners kept the vineyard and added fifteen suites — each with its own kitchenette, stone bathroom, Caudalie toiletries and, for those on the ground floor, a private terrace opening onto the rows.
This is not a hotel in the usual sense. No permanent reception desk, no restaurant, no room service. Breakfast arrives in a wooden box, hung on the door handle at whatever time you requested the night before. For dinner, Gaillac is five minutes by car — or you buy cheese at the market and use the kitchenette. The concept in a sentence: the independence of a cottage inside the shell of a château.
The pool, set above the grounds, is the centre of gravity. You walk up in the late afternoon with a bottle bought from the estate cellar, and watch the hillsides turn gold. The cellar itself is worth a stop: the owner gives tours, talks through the Gaillac grape varieties — Braucol, Duras, Len de l’El — and pours generously.
What we love.
