La Chambrette

9 · 57 reviews

B&B in the heart of Bruniquel's medieval village, rue de l'Hôpital. One room, two guests, breakfast included. 9.0 on Booking, 57 reviews.

On rue de l’Hôpital, in the tangle of medieval lanes that make up Bruniquel, a discreet door opens onto La Chambrette. The name says what there is: one small room in a village house. No lobby, no reception desk — you ring, you enter, you go up.

The room is modest in size but well kept. Stone walls, decent bedding, a functional bathroom. Breakfast is served on the terrace when the weather allows — homemade jams, fresh bread, coffee. Nothing showy, but 57 travellers have left a 9.0 on Booking, which means the essentials are covered.

La Chambrette’s real asset is Bruniquel itself. The castle is two minutes on foot, the ramparts twenty metres away, the Aveyron below. You sleep inside the village, not in a housing estate on its edge — and at 70 euros a night, breakfast included, it is the best location-to-price ratio in the area.

What we love.

The ramparts, twenty steps awayWalk out, turn left, and you are on the Bruniquel ramparts. The castle is above, the Aveyron below. No car needed to explore the village.
The entry priceSeventy euros a night in one of the most beautiful villages in France, breakfast included. Hard to find a better-located option at this price in the area.
Breakfast on the terraceServed outside when the weather cooperates, overlooking village rooftops and the valley. Homemade jams, fresh bread. Simple and enough.
Stone underfootRue de l'Hôpital — worn cobblestones, medieval façades, a cat asleep on a windowsill. You sleep inside the village, not beside it.

Good to know.
