La Lauze et l'Anguille
Two independent guest rooms in one of the oldest houses in Gaillac, in the Griffoul quarter. Secret garden, generous breakfast and the Tarn riverbank twenty metres away.
La Lauze et l’Anguille occupies one of the oldest houses in Gaillac, in the Griffoul quarter — the medieval heart of the town, between the fountain and the banks of the Tarn. Two independent rooms, Pastel and Ocre, each with a separate entrance, Queen-size bed, private bathroom and access to the garden.
Breakfast is the highlight. Served in the garden when the weather permits, it is generous, homemade, with local produce that changes with the seasons. Of the 586 Booking reviews, it is the point travellers mention first — even before the house itself.
And yet the house deserves it. The walls date from the 13th to 15th century, the beams are original, and the inner garden is a surprise in the town centre. The Tarn riverbank is twenty metres away, Place de la Liberté three minutes, the abbey five. At around €75 a night with breakfast included, it is one of the best value-for-location options in Gaillac.
What we love.
