Castel Mazars

Castel Mazars is a country house set in the hills, a few minutes’ drive from Castelnau-de-Montmiral. You come here for the quiet and the view: from the garden, the listed village stands out on its hill, and that is exactly what you look at while swimming. The heated pool, open from May to September, is ringed with lavender and loungers — the kind of spot where the afternoon stretches out without your noticing.

Nadine lets four rooms, air-conditioned, named after flowers — Aster, Agapanthe, Capucine, Coquelicot. The decor is simple and well kept: old beams, stone, light tones, private bathroom. Nothing flashy, but the comfort is there, and the house has the care of a place that is genuinely lived in.

In the morning, the home-made breakfast is served on the terrace, facing the fields. Walking trails start at the door, and Castelnau-de-Montmiral, its arcades and its covered square are a few minutes away. For anyone after a green base with a pool, it is one of the places around the vineyard that have their own pool without being a hotel.
