Domaine de Gayssou has been passed down through the Caussé family since the 16th century, on the first slopes of Gaillac, right bank of the Tarn. It’s an estate of memory — medal-winning as far back as the 1912 show — run today by a brother and sister, Nathalie and Christophe, across some forty hectares of clay-limestone soil.

The range covers the whole Gaillac palette, from dry white to sweet to ancestral-method sparklers. But the estate’s identity rests above all on its loyalty to the native grapes: a Mauzac it calls “100% Gaillac”, and above all the Marylou cuvée, a 100% Prunelart red — that rare grape many had abandoned. Alongside, you’ll also find more international varieties (Syrah, Merlot, Sauvignon).

Two things to know: the estate is HVE level 3, not organic — don’t be misled. And there’s no restaurant or accommodation on site, with guided tours by appointment. But to taste Prunelart and Mauzac on their home ground, it’s a fine way into the grapes of the Gaillacois.

Good to know

How long has the family been here?
The Caussés have passed the estate down since the 16th century, on the first slopes of Gaillac. It was already winning medals at the 1912 show. Today a brother and sister, Nathalie and Christophe, run it.
What is the Marylou cuvée?
A 100% Prunelart red — that old Gaillac grape almost everyone pulled up. The estate made it one of its signatures, alongside a Mauzac it calls '100% Gaillac'.
Is the estate organic?
No, it's certified HVE level 3 (High Environmental Value), not organic or biodynamic. The work is done 'with respect for nature', but without an organic label — better to say so plainly.
Can you taste on site?
Yes, Monday to Saturday, free of charge, at the Broze shop. Guided cellar tours are by appointment.
Are there apéro-concerts in summer?
Yes, two evenings at the Broze village hall, on Friday 3 July and Friday 21 August 2026, 7–11pm, single price from €5, by booking. The musical line-up isn't announced yet — the dates are below.
