Domaine de Larroque
At Cestayrols, between Albi and Cordes, a family vineyard organic since 2015. Faithful to the native grapes — down to a single-grape Prunelart — and built for welcome, from a group gîte to summer apéro-concerts.
Domaine de Larroque is a family vineyard tucked into the hamlet of Larroque, at Cestayrols, between Albi and Cordes-sur-Ciel. The Nouvel family has been here for more than forty years; Patrick Nouvel now runs the nineteen hectares of vines, on clay-limestone slopes, farmed organically since 2015.
The estate clearly plays the native-grape card: a single-grape Prunelart — a rarity — old-vine Mauzac and Loin de l’Œil whites, and a flagship red blending Braucol with Syrah. The range covers the whole appellation, from perlé to the méthode gaillacoise and on to late harvest.
It’s also an estate of welcome: free tasting, a group gîte for fourteen, and in summer, easygoing apéro-concerts with food trucks and an organic-juice bar. To be honest about it: the times and prices of those evenings aren’t published yet, and the estate claims organic but neither HVE nor biodynamics. To taste Prunelart on its home ground, it’s one of the area’s good addresses.
